Sunday 11 November 2007

2007 titleholder: Peter Thornton

The Event: Yes, it’s the three club event

Tournament Organiser: Nick Hillyard

The Day: See results
Nick's comments:
On to the season's first major, played over 10 holes with 13 participants and 2 shots off for the winner and one for the runner-up.

The winner was Peter Thornton with 24 points and the runner-up Alan W with 23. It is interesting to note that players in first, second and third ( Steve F 21) all achieved their totals with a wipe on their cards!! The new stroke index is really helping the high handicappers which is great ( index 18, 19, 20, 21 & 22 are all on the back 10 ).

Conditions were wonderful though a little soft underfoot and in the words of Phil ( you can't win off my handicap ) Stabback, " Isn't it great playing at Northbridge, you get a different course each week! ". This week was no exception with the hole being moved between the tee shots and the putts on one of the par 3's.

(or The Golden Putter)

Sunday 16 December 2007

2007 titleholder: Rick Butler with 14 putts, followed by four players with 16.

The Event:  Played over 10 holes with no Gimmees.  In the event that a player picks up they will score 3 putts for that hole.
A putt is any shot played on the cut surface of the green but shots played with a putter from off the green do not count.

This will be a 2 ball event, one for the putting competition (the aggregate score of which will also decide the coffee) and one for the weekly Stableford comp.  Each of these events carry a one-shot-off-the-handicap "prize".

Tournament Organiser:  Rick Butler

2007 Results:

A wonderful day with fair weather, fair handicaps and a very fair winner in Peter Macdougall!

Team results were decided using the
Butler modified multiplier method - the best two stableford scores were multiplied together for each hole and then totalled - very fair!!
