Sunday 6 December 2009 (moved from October due to rain!)
Location: Newcastle
Tournament Organiser: Alan Waddington
An enjoyable day was had at Newcastle last Sunday. After the false start with the weather a few weeks ago the conditions were kind to us on this occasion and we enjoyed the cool breeze which is not typical of this time of the year,
Congratulations to Major Bruce, who not only took out his umpteenth major [35points] but led his team to victory. Golf balls galore.
Excluding Bruce (as overall winner) Peter Thornton collected the front nine [17points], Rick Chadwick the back nine (16 points).
NTP was Ian Baker while Gary took the Long Drive after driving long and straight all day.
So Congratulations to our winners: Bruce loses two shots; Peter and Rick one shot each.

Sunday 18 October 2009
Location: Long Reef GC
Tournament Organiser: Tim Becker/Gary Skulander/Phil Stabback
A lot of rain to start with clearing to a beautiful morning with just a touch of breeze.
The hand of new assistant TD, Stabback, was obvious when the rules were read out revealing a two man teams competition with some complexity for the day (a touch of Croc & Brock?): two man Ambrose for the first six holes, 2BBB for the next six, two ball aggregate for the last six. The individual to be decided on just the last six holes!
Never before have so many handicap strokes been at stake! Two shots lost for each of the winning pair. one shot for the runners up and one shot for the winner of the last six holes. All followed by a lovely lunch at the club with many partners present.
Thanks Tim, Garry and Phil. and a special thanks to Alan O'D who organised the Pairs trophies and Marie who did a magnificent sewing job in providing the Pairs Jacket!

22 November 2009
2009 titleholder: Tim Becker
The
Event: The Obelisk ( as it has now become called even though the original Obelisk was presented at the St Michaels event ), the first Major of the season, was duly played this morning in balmy conditions with a field of 8 players.
With all players revelling in, or confused by, the awards which they had picked up on the previous Friday night there was an air of expectation as the first group Teed off. This was to be a one ball major and the deserved victor was Timmy Becker with 16 points, proving once again that all those other clubs are mere accessories carried purely by conformists.

Tuesday 26 January 2010

2010 Results: A huge turnout of 15, no doubt attracted by the large number of balls up for grabs (3 per player). A very humid, misty and still morning with 17 points enough for a tied win.
The miracle was witnessed by Phil Alexander whose electric cart failed on the 10th tee. After pushing the cart all the way back to the clubhouse, a man with a beard and what appeared in the mist to be a halo around his head waved his hands around the cart and it was instantly with power - A TRUE MIRACLE!
